Susan Dragonette - Secretary, FTL

My educational background is in business management and journalism by way of the University of Maryland and the Catholic University. Working to help people achieve their goals is where my strength lies. Nowhere was this more satisfying than working at the Pontifical College Josephinum and Don Bosco College; being part of that bright energy of young men preparing for priesthood and religious life. Being the lone Protestant in these two Catholic institutions, we often laughed that I made both truly ecumenical.

When my husband, Angelo, and I moved to Florida in 1986 we opened Diet Center Of Charlotte County and operated it for 10 years. Once again, very goal oriented and helping people to achieve what they believe they cannot. Belief is often a team effort.

I closed my business to become care giver for my elderly, infirm parents in my home. I have discovered that nothing in our normal life experience prepares us for that. Each day you just do the best you can.

We are the parents of three grown children (great ones) and grandparents of 4 (also great ones). Angelo and I share a love for West Highland white terriers and have been breeders for 25 years.....we just can't get enough of that sweet "puppy breath".

I made a good, but not good enough, run for a seat on our school board last year which is how I met John Beasley. His consistent willingness to dig holes and pound stakes was very appealing.

When John began to talk about creating an organization whose mission it would be to be the messenger of the good news of the Casey decision...there was no decision to be made as far as I was concerned. I knew I wanted to help change the history of hatred and violence brought about by Roe v Wade and its legacy of abortion on demand.

I believe that the legacy of the Casey decision will be much more than changing the face of education by creating open dialogue on the issue of abortion. There will come a time when we will see Americans living more peacefully with each other; focusing on things that will move our country forward rather than mired in dissension. I believe that openness in education about abortion will cause the number of abortions to diminish and the moral tone of America to rise.
